First Red-Band Trailer for 'The Machine' Shows Bert Kreischer & Mark Hamill Battling Russians in Action/Comedy
by Darian Scalamoni
If you're unfamiliar with the name Bert Kreischer, let's get you up to speed. Kreischer is an LA-based stand-up comedian who went viral years ago for a story in Rolling Stone which called him the "top partyer" at then biggest party school in the United States, Florida State University. The story also chronicled a semester in which Kreischer studied abroad in Russia which led to him being dubbed The Machine after being the only word he knew in Russian. This plays out in flashbacks for the first red-band trailer for the action-comedy, The Machine. The film, though operating at two different points in time, showcases Bert in the true story of a time in the 1990s (played by Jimmy Tatro) where he heads to Russia to study before leading to partying and binge-drinking with gangsters. The story often told in Kreischer's stand-up routines leads to him taking part in a Russian train robbery which comes back to haunt him in THIS action-comedy taking place in modern time. The movie plays very meta with Kreischer playing a heightened version of himself in 2023 now dealing with the consequences of his action's years prior. As a Russian gangster shows up at his home, he is captured alongside his dad (played by Mark Hamill) twenty years later with hilarity, mayhem and gunplay galore for this off-the-wall adventure.
Check out the first R-rated trailer below for The Machine! The film stars Bert Kreischer, Mark Hamill, Jimmy Tatro, Robert Maaser, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Jess Gabor, Rita Bernard Shaw, Nikola Durciko, Oleg Taktarov, Amelie Villers and Mercedes de la Cruz. The Machine hits theaters on May 25.
