First Trailer for A24's 'Past Lives' Reveal Greta Lee's Difficult Choice of Romantic Partner from Her Past or Present

There has been a rise in South Korean cinema that has spread to the United States in recent years. While 2020 Best Picture Winner Parasite made the overwhelming majority aware of South Korean artistry, there have been other significant films and television series that have made South Korean cinema largely the second-most consumed across worldwide markets. Squid Game is the largest show in Netflix's history that was groundbreaking and global. Following that other South Korean series and shows have been prominent in the conversation as well as stars such as Steven Yeun, Awkwafina and Lee Jung-jae. Now, there's a bilingual romance film from A24 that has Korean stars at the forefront that looks to be a fantastic tender treat in the movies called Past Lives.

Past Lives follows Nora (played by Greta Lee) who is in the midst of a complicated potential love triangle. Nora is currently married to an American man named Arthur (played by John Magaro) who she is madly in love with, but when her inseparable childhood friend Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) comes to visit her in New York for a week, she is reminded of the life that is left behind after she emigrated from South Korea decades ago. It looks to be an incredibly moving bicultural romance film from A24, which is one of the best production companies around today. Celine Song makes her directorial debut with Past Lives which she also wrote the script for which is a true modern examination of a love triangle of complication. It reminds me a lot of the film Brooklyn which starred Saoirse Ronan who was caught between a bicultural love triangle as well but with Domhnall Gleeson in Ireland and Emory Cohen in New York.

Check out the first trailer below for Past Lives! The A24 romantic drama premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival and hits theaters later this year.
