First Trailer for 'The Flash' Electrifies with Multiple Barry Allen's, Michael Keaton's Return as Batman & a 'Man of Steel' Villain

You wanna get nuts? Fine, let's get nuts. It's been highly anticipated for years of development across tons of director changes, release date swaps and script rewrites that The Flash finally get his own solo film. Now, not only is it confirmed that The Flash will hit theaters on June 16 but now, we finally have a full-length trailer for the movie that released just before the Super Bowl yesterday.

The Flash will follow an adaptation of the Flashpoint story arc from the comic books where Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) will do whatever it takes to save his mother from dying. We see within the trailer that Barry's ability to shift time and prevent his mother's death in one universe mixes multiple timelines leading to him meeting himself, Michael Shannon's General Zod from Man of Steel returning to try and destroy the world as well as recruiting not only Ben Affleck's Batman but also, Michael Keaton who returns to the role of Bruce Wayne for the first time since 1991. Keaton played Batman in Tim Burton's 1989 film around the hero followed by Batman Returns. The trailer also gives us our first official look at Sasha Calle as Kara-Zor El aka Supergirl though pictures had leaked on social media almost a year ago.

Despite the wait, I think the trailer and film look absolutely terrific. James Gunn touted the movie saying it's on par with Christopher Nolan's magnum opus The Dark Knight, which though lofty words, surely has fans excited to see the Scarlet Speedster on screen for his very own adventure. Despite us already getting plenty of reveals across multiple Earths in this DC film, I believe there is still tons more we haven't seen unless director Andy Musichetti (It, It Chapter Two) wanted to give away the big moments throughout the movie. The biggest question with The Flash is, will the impact of controversial actor Ezra Miller leading the film hurt the box-office? Will people still turn out in troves for the already expensive superhero epic they're setting up? What about the expectations and impact on the DCU moving forward? Lots to think about..

Check out the fantastic first trailer for The Flash below. The film stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Michael Shannon, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Maribel Verdu and Ron Livingston. The Flash hits theaters everywhere on June 16.
