Guy Ritchie to Begin Filming the Henry Cavill-led 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare' Next Week, Adds to Cast with Henry Golding, Alan Ritchson and More
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will star Cavill, as well as other prominent actors such as Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, The Gentleman), Alan Ritchson (Reacher, Fast X), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver, I Care a Lot), Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike, Elvis & Nixon) and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Stranger Things). The film is a true story that chronicles a secret WWII combat team that featured unorthodox or otherwise, "ungentlemanly" techniques in vanquishing the Nazis. The team was formulated, at the time, by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming, with the movie pulling from the source material of the Damien Lewis novel.
Given Guy Ritchie's method of filmmaking and this great team of actors, I'm excited to see this one come together. Cavill leads the upcoming AppleTV+ film Argylle releasing later this year that is hoping to jumpstart a spy franchise for the streamer while he's also attached to the Amazon series Warhammer 40,000 based on the game. Golding has worked with Ritchie previously in The Gentleman and has recently been cast in Netflix's sequel to The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron. Eiza Gonzalez is one of the lead characters in the pricey adaptation of The Three-Body Problem for Netflix from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Alan Ritchson is currently the star of action franchise Reacher for Amazon and will appear in the latest in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X in May. Pettyfer most recently starred in mystery thriller The Infernal Machine opposite Guy Pearce. Elwes will reunite with Ritchie after appearing in his upcoming Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and will also appear in two major franchises later this year with the upstart Netflix sci-fi film Rebel Moon from Zack Snyder and the seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise.
