HBO Reveals First Look at Hierarchal Drama Series 'The Palace' Starring Kate Winslet
by Darian Scalamoni
We had reported back in December that Hugh Grant was joining the dramatic limited series The Palace for HBO alongside Kate Winslet and now, the premium network has released a first look of the Oscar-winning actress in the series. While character descriptions are still under wraps for the show, the reveal photo features Winslet sitting in front of the national flags of a European country. The Palace will follow a one-year period in a modern European regime before it begins to crumble. In addition to the casting of Winslet and Grant, the series also stars recent Academy Award-nominee Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Martha Plimpton, Guillaume Gallienne. Filming is currently underway in Austria and will continue on into the United Kingdom soon.
Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons, Philomena) is directing and executive producing the project for HBO, while Succession duo Frank Rich and Will Tracy will write the scripts. The latter also acts as the showrunner. Winslet's last major foray into TV was when she played the lead in Mare of Easttown, the drama sensation that did great numbers for HBO in terms of ratings and earned acclaim for everyone involved, including Winslet who won an Emmy for her work.
It's possible that we can see The Palace hit the network before the end of 2023 or early in 2024. Are you looking forward to the miniseries?
