by Darian Scalamoni
Welcome back to another What to Watch This Week here at Cinema Wave! There is so much to watch this week that include the latest from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, final seasons of shows for Amazon and Hulu as well as some high-profile releases from Apple. Without further ado, let's get started!Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
One of the most anticipated films of 2023 hits theaters this week with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film marks the return of Scott Lang to cinemas following his triumphant efforts in the battle against Thanos that was showcased in Avengers: Endgame. Now, Lang becomes the first Avenger to face off against Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. Lang must decide whether he wants to take down Marvel's newest big bad or work alongside him to gain back the time he's lost being stuck in the Quantum Realm to spend more time with his daughter, Cassie. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters everywhere this Friday, February 17.
Sharper
Sharper is the latest film from AppleTV+ that has a great ensemble cast led by Sebastian Stan, Julianne Moore and John Lithgow. The film follows Stan as a con artist who attempts to con a multitude of Manhattan billionaires, one which includes his mother's new husband through his son. We posted the trailer on the site right here, and I think it should be a good little crime caper. Sharper hits AppleTV+ on Friday, February 17.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga - Final Season
This week marks the final season of Hulu's biographical series revolving around hip-hop super group, The Wu-Tang Clan. Featuring dramatic performances of legends of rap such as Ghostface Killa, ODB and Raekwon, the series focuses in on the group's rise in the 1990s amid the the crack cocaine epidemic and its impact on its members. Wu-Tang: An American Saga wraps up its series with a third and final season that is led by Shameik Moore and Ashton Sanders which begins streaming on Hulu this Wednesday, February 15.
Star Trek: Picard - Final Season
Paramount+ has a beloved franchise ending as well as the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard that centers on Patrick Stewart's iconic ends its run when it kicks off this week. This season will have Jean-Luc Picard in the 25th century reuniting with his USS Enterprise crew to combat a new villain named Vadic. It is sure to be a nostalgia-filled final sci-fi adventure for Picard and the crew on Paramount's streaming service. Star Trek: Picard begins streaming on Paramount+ this Thursday, February 16.Hello Tomorrow!
Starring Emmy winner Billy Crudup, comes a new and interesting series from AppleTV+ called Hello Tomorrow! The series takes place in a retro-futuristic world where a charming businessman named Jack Billings leads a sales team that are selling time shares to the moon for their willing customers. It plays sort of like a more comedic Mad Men with a futuristic sci-fi vibe making this one of the more appealing original series coming on TV this month. Hello Tomorrow! begins streaming this Friday, February 17 on AppleTV+.
Carnival Row: Season 2
Yet another series returning this week is Amazon's expensive Victorian fantasy series Carnival Row starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne. This season picks up on Bloom's character, Philo investigating a string of gruesome murders while Delevingne's character of Vignette teams up with the Black Raven to plot payback against those who are causing her prejudice and harm. Though I am not a viewer of the series usually, I think the premise and environment makes the show an interesting watch. Carnival Row returns on Amazon this upcoming Friday, February 17.
The Last of Us
Finally, I have to finish with the very best show currently on television. If you're not watching The Last of Us, you are truly missing out. Catch the newest episode, which is streaming now on HBO Max, with the upcoming episode returning to its normally scheduled release of Sunday at 9 PM EST on HBO.
