Oscar-Winning Directors of 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' Daniels to Direct at least One Episode of Star Wars Series, 'Skeleton Crew'
The independent site reports that Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the brilliant minds between Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All at Once will direct "at least one" episode of the upcoming Disney+ series known as Skeleton Crew. The series began filming in the Summer and wrapped a couple of months ago, prior to all the massive awards success that the two men received. THR followed up on the reporting from One Take News.
Though not much is known about Skeleton Crew, we do know that Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley, Closer) will star alongside a younger cast, as many have likened the series as Star Wars' answer to Stranger Things. Jon Watts, who previously helmed the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man trilogy will serve as co-creator, showrunner and direct a few episodes himself. The series will center around a group of kids who are lost in the outer rim of the galaxy who are trying to find their way back home. The series is also set within the New Republic Era, with The Mandalorian creatives Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni acting as executive producers and co-creators.
Daniels recently brought home three Academy Awards themselves for Writing, Directing and Best Picture for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Additionally, the film garnered four additional awards including three acting statues for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The very in-demand directors signed a five-year deal with Universal back in August for distribution on their next directorial projects. Skeleton Crew is expected to hit Disney+ later this year.
