Coming off his win for Best Animated Feature Film at this past weekend's 95th Academy Awards for Netflix's Pinocchio, it appears that Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth) has set his next project at the streamer. According to Deadline, the Oscar-winning director is in early talks with Oscar Isaac (Dune, Moon Knight), Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Social Network) and Mia Goth (Pearl, X) to star in Frankenstein at Netflix.

Further details detail that del Toro is still working on the script and no formal offers have been given to the talent listed above, however, del Toro has met with all of them recently and they're all on board to star in Frankenstein. Del Toro, who now has 3 Oscars on his resume, has been developing this project for a while and had always been interested in telling the recognizable story in his own gothic horror way. It's currently unknown whether or not his take will take place in modern times or be a period piece, however, it's believed that Goth would star as Doctor Frankenstein's love interest.

We had previously reported just yesterday that Isaac is attached to star in Amazon series Helltown from All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger. He's also starred recently in HBO's Scenes from a Marriage and Marvel's Moon Knight on Disney+.

Garfield also just signed onto a new project which we reported on as he'll appear in romance film We Live in Time with Florence Pugh. He also recently earned SAG and Emmy nominations for his role in limited series Under the Banner of Heaven for FX.

Goth's stock has risen massively over the last few years for her acclaimed performances in X and its prequel film, Pearl. She also starred most recently in Infinity Pool which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. She'll next round out the horror trilogy that follows her character Maxine in MaXXXine for Ti West which begins filming later this year.
