According to an exclusive from Variety, Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, Still Alice) and Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The White Lotus) will star in the upcoming feature Echo Valley for AppleTV+ which Inglesby will write and produce, while Michael Pearce (Beast, Encounter) will direct. Moore will star as Kate Garrett, a woman who is grieving following a personal tragedy. She currently lives in Southeastern Pennsylvania in Echo Valley Farm boarding, nurturing and training horses until late one night, her headstrong daughter Claire (Sweeney) shows up at her door. She's terrified, trembling and covered in someone else's blood; what follows is a taut thriller telling the story of just how far a mother will go to keep her daughter safe.
Mare of Easttown was a phenomenon during the pandemic, earning 16 total Emmy nominations leading to interest in the next story headed by Inglesby. He previously wrote The Way Back starring Ben Affleck, Our Friend with Dakota Johnson and Oscar-winner Casey Affleck, as well as Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale. Though he has been questioned of a second season of Mare of Easttown by HBO executives and Winslet, as of now, there's no update to a continuation of the story.
Echo Valley marks the third collaboration between Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore and Apple. She recently starred in another thrilling feature for the streamer with Sharper alongside Sebastian Stan and John Lithgow. She also starred in the Stephen King adaptation Lisey's Story alongside Clive Owen. Moore will reteam with Todd Haynes for his next film, May December. Moore was nominated for her fourth Academy Award for Haynes' 2002 film, Far from Heaven.
Sweeney continues to be one of the hottest young talents in Hollywood, seemingly adding to her schedule almost weekly. She is garnering praise for her role as former American intelligence specialist Reality Winner in the movie, Reality, which premiered recently at the Berlin Film Festival before it was picked up for a future release by HBO. Sweeney currently stars in Euphoria at the premium network and also appeared in the first season of awards darling, The White Lotus, both for which she earned Emmy nominations. She'll next appear in the film Americana with Paul Walter Hauser, Zahn McClarnon and Euphoria co-star Eric Dane before entering the superhero realm for Madame Web, where she's rumored to be playing Spider-Woman.
