About
a month ago, we reported on John Boyega joining Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming
Detroit Riots film and today, The Playlist reports that other young stars Jack
Reynor ad Will Poulter are set to join the cast as well.
Bigelow
is the director behind war films like Zero
Dark Thirty and Best Picture winner, The
Hurt Locker, so it’s clear that she has the desire to tackle important and
modern stories that capture the essence of where our country is. Poulter is best
known for playing Jason Sudeikis’ fake son in We’re the Millers but also has shown his dramatic talents in film,
like this year in The Revenant.
Reynor has been seen in films like Sing
Street, Transformers: Age of
Extinction and Macbeth. Both
actors are young, hungry actors who have shown their talent in films directed
by fantastic filmmakers.
The
film is still without a title, but will follows the devastating riots that took
place over five summer days in 1967 in Detroit. The movie will also explore
racism and given the current conversation in the US with the Black Lives Matter
movement, the material will be extremely current. The untitled film will be
released in 2017 which will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the
riots.
