World War Z was one of the most anticipated movies for tons of people and did very well at the box office despite extensive re-shoots, the film made $540 million worldwide. Marc Forster directed the original film but now it seems that star Brad Pitt is courting one of his good friends to direct the sequel. According to Variety, Pitt is courting David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network) to direct him in the zombie/thriller follow up to the 2013 film.

Pitt will return to star and produce the next installment in the franchise and recently met with other directors but has Fincher in his sights as the guy for the job. The next film is expected to start filming in early 2017. The reunion between Fincher and Pitt would not be there first time working together but actually their fourth after working together previously on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Fincher hasn’t directed a film since 2014 with Gone Girl and being one of my all-time favorite directors, I’m extremely excited to see what he’d be able to do in this zombie universe led by Brad Pitt. Hopefully, it works out as it would be a huge get for Paramount to make another killing at the box office after the success of the first film.
