Nic Pizzolatto,
who was the creator of the once deemed amazing HBO original series, True Detective has another show up his
sleeve at the premium network and it’s with one of the biggest stars in
Hollywood today. According to Collider,
Pizzolatto is eyeing his next big project at the network with the help of
Robert Downey Jr.
Downey
Jr. is best known nowadays as portraying Tony Stark or Iron Man in the Marvel
Cinematic Universe. He will be seen next year in Spider-Man: Homecoming and is in discussions to join Pizzolatto’s
next HBO drama. Back in 2011, Downey Jr. was linked to a feature film
adaptation of Perry Mason, a courtroom
drama in which the title defense attorney would privately investigate crimes
for his clients.
Now
it seems that the idea would be turned into a series at HBO with the True Detective creator at the helm along
with RDJ. Pizzolatto took a lot of the blame for the lackluster Season 2 of True Detective which was a far cry from
the premiere season of the anthology crime drama that went from Woody Harrelson
and Matthew McConaughey starring to a mix of Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams,
Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn for Season 2.
Anything
that would potentially get Robert Downey Jr. on a screen is more than a
welcomed idea for me. I absolutely love Downey Jr.’s passion and charisma
whenever he is on screen and I think he’d do great in any television series;
especially if it’s on HBO.
