Andrew
Dominik hasn’t directed a film since 2012’s Killing
Them Softly which essentially put actors like Ben Mendelsohn and Scoot
McNairy on the map. Next month, he has a documentary about Nick Cave being
released but things have bee relatively quiet as of late on his next feature
film. According to The
Playlist though, he will next direct Blonde
which is based on the book written by Joyce Carol Oates about Marilyn Monroe.
Naomi
Watts was originally attached to star in the film but then dropped out. The
studio then turned to Jessica Chastain who was attached for years before she
also had to leave the production. Dominik revealed recently that there would be
a new lead in addition to Netflix taking over for production that will begin
sometime in early 2017. Dominik will remain mum on who will play Monroe for the
time being.
Though,
I’m not a fan of Killing Them Softly,
I am excited for this project. Netflix has pumped out great things as of late
and Dominik is absolutely a capable director. I remember hearing about this
project years ago with Chastain attached and was immediately hooked as she is
one of the most polarizing actresses in the business today, but I’m excited to
see who Dominik has cast to be the new lead.
