Dan
Gilroy made his name known after making his directorial debut in 2014 with the
fantastic film, Nightcrawler. The
film boasted an incredible performance from Jake Gyllenhaal has an anti-hero
and ever since that movie, I’ve been waiting to see what Gilroy would do next.
According
to Variety,
Gilroy’s next film will be a legal drama titled Inner City and the movie will star Academy Award-winner Denzel
Washington. This won’t be the first time Denzel plays a lawyer as he did so
previously in The Pelican Brief and Philadelphia.
Washington
has a lot going on in the film world right now as he stars in Antoine Fuqua’s
next film, The Magnificent Seven,
which will be released on September 23rd. In addition to that, he
will direct and star in the adaptation of August Wilson’s play, Fences. That film will be released in
December and is garnering awards season buzz.
I’m
beyond excited for this film coming from the mind of Gilroy who also will be
writing an upcoming blockbuster, Kong:
Skull Island. With Denzel joining the cast, it brings my hype level to a
10. Anyone else excited about this team-up of director/actor? Comment below!
