Yesterday,
we saw the first look photos for the new Amy Adams/Jeremy Renner led film Arrival; today, we get our first look in
the teaser trailer. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario) who is working with both of these Academy Award nominated
actors for the first time.
Amy
Adams plays an expert linguist who is enlisted by the U.S. government when a
mysterious alien spacecraft enters Earth’s atmosphere and hovers above the
ground. Along with Renner, who plays a physicist, Adams’ character is tasked to
investigate and communicate with the extraterrestrials. The premise sounds
incredible for the movie previously titled Story
of Your Life and it’s a welcome change for the Sci-Fi genre, similar to
what Christopher Nolan did with Interstellar. I was a huge fan of both Sicario and Prisoners, so anything that Villeneuve is a part of, I’m on board
to watch.
Again,
this is only a tease showing just about a minute of footage before the official
full-length trailer on August 16th. Arrival will open in theaters on November 11th and stars
Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg.
