As we
eagerly await the return of the Daredevil
of Hell’s Kitchen, there is news on another Marvel television program on
Netflix that doesn’t receive the same reception. According to multiple outlets,
Netflix has cancelled Iron Fist after
two seasons.
To be
honest, this result seemed inevitable from the jump. I have still not watched a
single episode of this comic book television series, most of the reaction has
been negative since the beginning. There has been more optimism after what
seems to have been an improved sophomore effort on the streaming service, but it
wasn’t enough for Netflix to renew the show for a third season.
Netflix
still has four other Marvel series that are continuing and either coming off of
new seasons in 2018 or are awaiting the next chapter with aforementioned Daredevil along with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and The Punisher. Finn Jones played the
titular character in the now-cancelled solo series as well as reprised his role
in the team-up miniseries, The Defenders.
Have
these Netflix comic book shows lost their luster? It’s certainly possible.
Though I loved both seasons of Daredevil
thus far and season one of Jessica Jones,
I wasn’t as high on Luke Cage and
have yet to watch the respective seasons of either of those last two programs I
listed. With the upcoming Disney streaming service announcing limited series
starring Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, I’m more
excited to see what they can do with that rather than the Netflix heroes of New
York.
What
do you guys think? Are you upset that Iron
Fist was cancelled after two seasons? Are the Marvel Netflix series getting
stale? Leave a comment below and let us know!
