Mel Gibson, Eiza Gonzalez And Charlie Hunnam To Lead Action/Thriller 'Waldo'

Mel
Gibson made his return to big screen action films with 2016’s Blood Father but now his latest casting
has him sharing the screen with an up-and-comer and a big name best known for a
role on television. According to TheHollywood Reporter, Gibson, Eiza Gonzalez and Charlie Hunnam have been cast
in Waldo.
Waldo, which is based on the novel, Last Looks written by Howard Gould, follows
a disgraced former LAPD detective, Charlie Waldo, who is now living a basic
life but is quickly brought back into the fold to investigate the murder of a television
star’s spouse. Hunnam is set to star as Waldo while there are no details yet on
who Gibson and Gonzalez will play in the action/thriller.
Gibson
will be on screen next alongside Vince Vaughn in S. Craig Zahler’s, Dragged Across Concrete. Gonzalez, who
had a breakout role in last year’s Baby
Driver will appear next in Robert Zemeckis’ Welcome to Marwen and Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel. Hunnam has the Netflix crime film, Triple Frontier upcoming alongside Ben
Affleck and Oscar Isaac from A Most
Violent Year director, J.C. Chandor.
Tim
Kirkby, who directed the pilot of Fleabag
and episodes of Veep will direct the
film. Waldo is expected to shoot in
the first quarter of 2019.
