Honestly, it feels like it’s been an eternity since we’ve seen a film from the legendary director, Martin Scorsese. While plenty of movies have been announced as “in development” from The Wolf of Wall Street filmmaker, he's only had one movie released since then (Silence) and has been working on production for years on The Irishman starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. Now, it seems he’s selected his next project with a frequent collaborator.

According to The Playlist, Scorsese will direct Leonardo DiCaprio in the previously announced, Killers of the Flower Moon. The project was announced on our site back on April 2017 when it was said that De Niro would also appear in the film. This new report has no mention of the long-time muse of Scorsese but his younger one, DiCaprio will star in the adaptation of the David Grann book of the same name.

The film will follow the Osage Nation in Oklahoma, which will serve as the backdrop of the film. The Osage Nation had the richest people per capita in the world during the 1920s after it was discovered that there were tons of oil underneath the land they lived on. The newly-created FBI was called in soon after to discover why the members of this tribe were murdered one-by-one.

There’s no word yet on who DiCaprio will play however, this movie will be his sixth under Scorsese after roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York, respectively. The Oscar-winning actor is currently filming Tarantino’s latest, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood alongside Brad Pitt.

Killers of the Flower Moon begins shooting sometime in 2019 so expect a 2020 release for the next Scorsese/DiCaprio film.
