One
of the industry’s busiest actors has added yet another movie to his list of
projects. According to THR,
Jake Gyllenhaal will star in The Lost
Airman, a WWII film based on the book of the same name written by Seth
Meyerowitz.
The
film tells the true story of an American turret-gunner who’s shot down over
France and gets protection from the French resistance. It sure sounds like more
good material is finding Gyllenhaal with his recent string of films that
include Nightcrawler, Prisoners, Enemy,
Nocturnal Animals and Southpaw,
just to name a few, The Lost Airman
looks to show the actor treading different waters in a WWII setting. No
director or screenwriter has been attached yet but with Gyllenhaal and John
Lesher (Birdman, Black Mass)
producing, it sure looks like it’ll attract some more talent.
Gyllenhaal’s
busy slate continues to fill up as his next performance can be seen on Netflix
on June 28th as Okja hits
the streaming service in which he co-stars with Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano and
many others. He also has Dano’s directorial debut, Wildfire later this year as well as Stronger, in which he plays a victim of the Boston Marathon
bombings. That’s not even including Rio,
which he’ll star with Benedict Cumberbatch and The Son, his latest collaboration with Denis Villeneuve who
directed him in both Prisoners and Enemy. So if you’re a fan of Gyllenhaal,
he’s not going away anytime soon.
