Netflix
is continuing their trend of canceling original shows after years of creating
new content week by week for audiences. Deadline
has reported that Girlboss is the
latest show to not be renewed by the streaming service after a 13-episode first
season.
I
just started the show after reading this news to see what the show is all about
and it was a decent pilot but didn’t hook me like other Netflix shows in the
past have. The show is based on the popular autobiography of the same name
about Sophia Amoruso. Girlboss joins
other recent high-profile cancellations at the network The Get Down and Sense8.
It makes a lot of sense as the show didn’t do well critically and featured a
rather unlikable lead that the audience couldn’t relate to.
Girlboss is the first comedy series that
Netflix has canceled since producing comedies for the service in 2015. The show
starred Britt Robertson, Ellie Reed, Johnny Simmons, Dean Norris and Alphonso
McAuley. Girlboss began streaming on
Netflix on April 21st.
