Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film, The Papers, formerly known as The Post, finalized its cast today and it could be the best of the year. The movie sprung up just months ago as Spielberg was finishing post-production on Ready Player One and was set to direct The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara next, but the script came his way and not only did he clear his schedule but also, American treasures, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep also did the same.

The latest announcement from Variety revealed the rest of the cast list and it has tons of prestige TV faces on it that will join the Spielberg ensemble. Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods will all appear in the film which makes it just that much more exciting. You may notice names that have appeared in all of your favorite shows like Fargo, The Americans, The People v. O.J. Simpson, Breaking Bad, Silicon Valley and even, Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman himself from Better Call Saul will appear in the movie.

The Papers will recount the Washington Post’s role in exposing the Pentagon Papers to the public in 1971 and how the Post’s editor, Ben Bradlee (Hanks) teamed up with the first female publisher, Kay Graham (Streep) and the New York Times to expose the federal government. With a cast like this and a December 22nd release date, it’s almost a guarantee that we have our first major awards player before the damn thing even shoots!
