Julia
Roberts has had a very underwhelming last couple of years. With roles in films
like Secret In Their Eyes, Money Monster
and Mother’s Day, it seems she’ll be
taking a different approach heading to television for HBO show Today Will Be Different and also, The
Playlist reports she’ll star in Homecoming,
the latest show from Mr. Robot
creator, Sam Esmail.
Homecoming is an adaptation of the hit
podcast that told the story of a caseworker at a secret government facility.
Roberts will play that caseworker’s boss in the show that has yet to have a
network attached. The original podcast featured the voices of acclaimed actors
Oscar Isaac, Catherine Keener and David Schwimmer. It sure sounds like an
interesting and worthy project for Roberts talents and as a huge fan of Mr. Robot, I’m excited to see Esmail’s
follow-up series. This does make me question what will happen with the Metropolis miniseries based on the 1927
Fritz Lang film, but I’m still intrigued by Homecoming
nonetheless.
Roberts
will appear in Wonder, based on the
best-selling children’s novel in November. She’s also set to star alongside
Viola Davis in Small Great Things
based on the Jodi Picoult novel of the same name.
