With Transformers: The Last Knight just weeks
away, Paramount has moved along with their upcoming spinoff, Bumblebee by casting the lead. According
to Variety,
Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to star in the film for Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) which is set
to open on June 8th, 2018.
Steinfeld
will play a tomboy who has a job as a mechanic after school. There isn’t much
more known about the film thus far but it is said that it will be a lower
budget than many have anticipated, so maybe it’ll be the Deadpool of the Transformers
universe? Christina Hodson (Shut In,
Unforgettable) will write though I don’t think her track record indicates
that it’s such a great choice. Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are also some
of the attached producers on the film.
Steinfeld
earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the
coming-of-age film, The Edge of Seventeen.
She’s not a stranger to the awards season though as she earned her first Oscar nomination
back in 2010 for True Grit at the age
of 14. She’ll be seen next in Pitch
Perfect 3 on December 22nd.
