Legendary
actors Robert Redford and the late, great Paul Newman were developing a couple
of projects before the latter passed away back in 2008. One of those was A Walk in the Woods, which Redford later
made with Nick Nolte. Another one of those was a crime movie titled Highwaymen. In 2013, the movie cast
Woody Harrelson and Liam Neeson as the new leads and while Neeson has exited,
the movie is back on tracks with Netflix (who else) coming on to produce with Harrelson
and now, Kevin Costner to star, per Deadline.
John
Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, Saving Mr.
Banks) will direct the movie and also has done the re-write on the script.
The movie follows Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, lawmen who brought Bonnie and
Clyde to justice. It’s a great directing vehicle for Hancock, who I really
quite enjoy and premise for both Costner and Harrelson to star.
Harrelson
can be seen in three big-time projects this year with War for the Planet of the Apes and The Glass Castle due out later this Summer. He’ll also reunite with
Martin McDonagh for Three Billboards
Outside Ebbing, Missouri as well as star in the untitled Han Solo Star Wars
Anthology Film which will be released in 2018. Costner will star in Aaron Sorkin’s
directorial debut, Molly’s Game with
Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba and star in the TV series, Yellowstone helmed by Taylor Sheridan.
