It’s
about time that some of our favorite 90’s cartoons are getting reboots! With the
reboot of DuckTales just around the
corner (yes I know it was late 80’s but it ended in the 90’s), it seems
legendary director, Steven Spielberg will hop back into his old territory with
a rebooted version of the classic animated series, Animaniacs, per Indiewire.
The
original series ran for 99 episodes from 1993-1998 on Fox Kids and then Kids’
WB. It also led to the spinoff series, Pinky and the Brain that aired on The
WB. The cartoon had various segments that tied together all Warner Bros.
characters as the main characters, Yakko, Wakko and Dot were trapped on a
Warner Bros. lot water tower since the 1930s until their escape.
The
show was genuinely one of my favorite cartoons of all-time and was great for
children but also had sophisticated humor for adults as well. It also had
plenty of original music and songs, plus one of the most famous theme songs of
any television show ever. Animaniacs
won 8 Daytime Emmy Awards and a Peabody award during its run.
I’m
obviously amped for the potential return of Animaniacs
and I’m happy that Spielberg is returning as a producer. What do you guys
think? Do you want to see Animaniacs
return to television? Let us know in the comments!
