It
seems that a new trend in Hollywood is adapting old films for television
reboots? It’s one trend that I hope dies soon but who knows with more and more
shows being announced each and every day. Collider reports that Sin City will get the TV treatment with
Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) and
Len Wiseman (Lucifer, Sleepy Hollow)
heading the team.
The
intention of the series is that it will be nothing like the films introducing original
characters and timelines in the Sin City
universe which is an interesting take but still, why not just do a whole new
original concept? Mazzara and Wiseman are clearly not new to the world of
television so it could turn out being a good effort though. No network has been
attached yet but something tells me that a premium network will pick this up
for its gritty, dark tone. HBO or Starz could be perfect for a show like this.
The
first film back in 2005 directed by Robert Rodriguez was ground-breaking but
his more recent sequel, A Dame to Kill
For didn’t do as well with fans or critically. I’d be interested to see if
he’s attached as a producer or involved whatsoever but either way, it should be
an intriguing series.
