With
the first season of the National Geographic anthology series, Genius in the can, the network and its
producers have announced the subject of Season 2. According to Indiewire,
the upcoming season will focus on the legendary artist, Pablo Picasso.
This
comes after the well-received first season that focused of the life of Albert
Einstein in which Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Flynn played the older and younger
versions of Einstein respectively. Picasso lived from 1881-1973 and is famed
for his unforgettable artwork and a movement that changed the landscape of the
art world entirely. Picasso has been portrayed on screen many times before but
there is no news yet on who will play the artist on the show but we do know
that there will again be two actors portraying him as younger and older
versions.
This
is exciting news as we’re seeing the change of pace from science to art for the
sophomore season. I was a huge fan of this season and this subject matter has
me even more hyped for who they’ll cast in the lead role. The producers are
also considering a female subject for Season 3 which is great to hear. Season 2
is expected to begin filming this Fall and it will air Spring 2018.
How
do you guys feel about Pablo Picasso being the focus of Season 2 of Genius? Who would you like to see
portray him? Let us know in the comments section!
