The
cast continues to grow for the TNT series based on Bong-Joon Ho’s 2013 feature,
Snowpiercer. According to Deadline,
Jennifer Connelly has been cast to star in the upcoming TV show.
The
drama, which first episode will be directed by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange, Sinister) is set seven
years after the world has become a frozen land and the bit of humanity that is
left are inhabiting a moving train that circles the globe on a track. The train
is broken up by class as they poor live in the back, while the luxurious and
rich live towards the front of the locomotive.
Connelly
is set to play Melanie Cavill, a passenger in First Class who works as the “Voice
of the Train”, making all the daily announcements over the PA. She is oddly
fascinated by the lower-class passengers unlike many of the other First Class
passengers. This is a huge get for the network joining their already intriguing
cast that includes Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright and Annalise
Basso.
Connelly
is next set to appear in Granite Mountain
alongside Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Jeff Bridges. Also, she stars in Robert
Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel with
Michelle Rodriguez, Christoph Waltz and recent Oscar-winner, Mahershala Ali.
