Atlanta was one of, if not, the best new show in 2016. A fresh take at a comedy from the eyes and soul of Donald Glover, who acted as the creator, writer and star of the project, the show is highly anticipated for a Season 2 return. Though many thought it would be later this year in which we’d see the critically adored series return, FX announced today that Season 2 will not premiere until 2018.

Glover won’t be able to get things rolling on Atlanta again until he’s done shooting the untitled Han Solo movie in which he has the role of a young Lando Calrissian but filming doesn’t begin until next month. Reports say that Glover has his writers room already working on story ideas for the second season but it’s looking like a fall or winter premiere in 2018 for the show’s return. The show was one of my favorites of all of last year and I’m incredibly excited to see the actor take on Lando in the upcoming Star Wars anthology movie, so there’s no worries out of this camp.

If you haven’t watched Atlanta yet, I recommend that you do, not only is it smart, honest, hilarious and moving, but the writing and acting are tremendous across the board; especially the star himself. The show just won two Golden Globes for Best Comedy Series and Best Actor for Donald Glover’s role of Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks.
