Woody
Harrelson is one of the most diverse actors in Hollywood and can play almost
any role, but it seems he’s about to get into some familiar territory. After
playing a mentor to Katniss Everdeen in The
Hunger Games franchise, Harrelson is now in talks to play the mentor of Han
Solo in the currently untitled Han Solo anthology film starring Alden
Ehrenreich, per Collider.
There
isn’t much known about the project other than that it will take place prior to A New Hope, just like the first
standalone project, Rogue One: A Star
Wars Story. Also, Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover have been cast in the
film as well. I think this would be a great choice for the mentor, especially
because I prefer Harrelson in this role over Christian Bale who was originally
Disney’s top choice for the same role. Phil Lord and Chris Miller seem to be
doing a great job with this ensemble and I’m very excited for them to start
shooting this month.
Harrelson
has had a busy year starring in Triple 9,
Now You See Me 2, The Edge of Seventeen and played Lyndon B. Johnson in the
aptly titled, LBJ. This year is also
filled with what seems to be great projects that include Wilson, The Glass Castle
that stars Oscar winner Brie Larson and of course, he’ll play the main villain
in War of the Planet of the Apes. The
untitled Han Solo project is slated to hit theaters on May 25th,
2018 though there are rumors that could change to December in which the past
two Star Wars movies were released.
