For
many who were anxiously awaiting the first trailer for the film adaptation of
the classic 70s TV show, CHiPs, you’re
in luck because Warner Bros. has released the first trailer today. Dax Shepard
wrote, directed and stars in the film as Jon Baker who was played by Larry
Wilcox in the show, while Michael Pena plays Frank Llewelyn “Ponch” Pncherello
who was played by Erik Estrada.
If
you’ve never watched the show, the story has two officers partnering together
as for the California Highway Patrol. Baker is a beaten-up pro motocrosser who
is trying to convince his wife to stay with him, while Ponch is an undercover
FBI agent investigating a heist that could’ve been an inside job. The trailer
is average and has some funny moments but all the “homophobic” jokes are a bit
too much for my take. Pena is a treasure in Hollywood right now though so I
might have to see this movie just for him alone.
Check
out the trailer for CHiPs below! In
addition to Shepard and Pena, the movie also stars Kristen Bell, Adam Brody,
David Koechner, Michael K. Williams and Vincent D’Onofrio. CHiPs opens in theaters everywhere on March 24th.
