Kidman has been getting critical acclaim for her recent supporting turn in Lion but she is now in talks to join
another high-profile project. According to Deadline,
Kidman and Amara Karan, who is coming off a big role in the HBO limited series,
The Night Of, are in talks to join The Intouchables based on the French hit
movie from 2011.
The Intouchables stars Bryan Cranston as
an aristocrat who is paralyzed and hires a young man to be his caretaker, who
is set to be played by Kevin Hart. In the original movie, the parts were played
by Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy, respectively. The original film also grossed
$426 million in total so there’s a huge cultural audience for The Intouchables.
Kidman
was just seen in Lion and has
multiple other projects set for this year including The Beguiled directed by Sofia Coppola, Yorgos Lanthimos’ next
film, The Killing of a Sacred Deer
and the HBO series, Big Little Lies
alongside Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley. Karan was just seen as
Chandra Kapoor in The Night Of and
with her brilliant performance, she’s set to get more roles like this in the
future.
