Damon has been wanting to direct for years now and even passed on one of the
best films of the year, Manchester by the
Sea. After originally being set to direct, produce and star in the movie,
he passed on directing duties and gave them to Kenneth Lonergan and gave the
lead role to his great friend and fellow actor, Casey Affleck who is getting
universal praise for his performance. It seems that Damon’s search to direct is
going to be pushed yet again as Gavin O’Connor (Warrior, The Accountant) is set to direct Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses,
per The
Playlist.
Damon
wanted to direct and star in the film five years ago but due to his hectic
schedule, he’s going to pass it on to O’Connor. Damon will stay on as a
producer in the movie that follows a man who goes on the lam with his daughter
on a three-state crime spree. It will be interesting to see when this gets made
as O’Connor has a new Netflix series underway titled, Seven Seconds and he also has The
Green Hornet reboot as well. Having said that, it seems like a great
project and partnership between O’Connor and the Oscar-nominated actor.
Damon
only appeared in one movie in 2016, Jason
Bourne, but he has a much busier schedule this year with starring roles in The Great Wall, George Clooney’s Suburbicon and Alexander Payne’s Downsizing.
