Two years ago, Jacob Tremblay took the film world by storm for his performance in Room, for which Brie Larson won the Oscar. Many said it was a travesty that Tremblay wasn’t cast. The then 9-year old has broken out since then getting cast in tons of projects and he has another one lined up. According to The Tracking Board, Tremblay has been cast in Shane Black’s (Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) The Predator.

The reboot has already garnered a terrific cast in which Tremblay joins Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Keegan Michael-Key, Sterling K. Brown and Trevante Rhodes. The young actor is playing Holbrook’s son, an autistic boy who is bullied in school but becomes a massive player in the fight against the aliens due to his ability to learn other languages. I love the way this cast is shaping up, even more so because of the direction of Black. I was very receptive when first seeing Holbrook and Munn as the leads but the supporting cast around them is exciting to say the least.

Tremblay has a big year on the horizon as he’ll star in Colin Trevorrow’s follow-up to Jurassic World titled The Book of Henry alongside Naomi Watts. Also, he’ll star as Auggie Pullman in the movie adaptation of the best-selling children’s novel Wonder that follows a young boy with a facial deformity. This movie could lead to an Oscar nomination especially since it has a killer cast with co-stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as Auggie’s parents. The Predator will be released on February 9th, 2018.
