Dakota Fanning to star in TNT series 'The Alienist' alongside Daniel Bruhl and Luke Evans

We reported just a month ago about Daniel Bruhl and Luke Evans being cast in the upcoming TNT drama, The Alienist. Now, according to The Tracking Board, Dakota Fanning has joined the cast.

The Alienist is set in 1896 NYC, after a series of murders a criminal psychologist and newspaper reporter conduct the investigation on the down low. Fanning will play Sara Howard, a strong-willed secretary that will assist Bruhl and Evans in their mission. Howard dreams of becoming the first female detective in the city so she joins the adventure to track down one of the first serial killers ever. I love this casting and the premise is great for a drama that will be broadcast on TNT. I’m hoping this could be one of the best if not, the best show that the network has ever put on screen.

Fanning was seen last in Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut American Pastoral but also has a huge future ahead of her with many projects on her plate. Some of those include Kirsten Dunst’s directorial debut The Bell Jar that will star and be produced by Fanning. Also, she’ll be in Ocean’s Eight and co-star in Please Stand By alongside Toni Collette.
