Joe
and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil
War, Captain America: The Winter
Soldier) have done a remarkable job with the Marvel movies and next, they’ll
tackle the Avengers: Infinity War
films. Before then though, Deadline
reports that the directing brother duo will tackle the cult classic 1979’s The Warriors as a television series for
Hulu. The TV series will honor the original movie, while the Russo brothers add
their own personal flare as well. They are currently set to direct the pilot
but there is no commitment to direct any episodes beyond that.
The
film was set in 1979 and features New York City being torn apart by gang
rivalries. The leader that summons all of these street gangs is fatally shot
and the Warriors are falsely blamed for his death. Because of this, rival gangs
follow the gang in red throughout the length of the movie trying to avenge the
leader’s death.
I’m a
huge fan of the original movie so this is great news to me. Especially led by
two of the best filmmakers currently in Hollywood on a streaming network like
Hulu. Too much potential to not like this exciting news!
