Who
ever thought that a comic book series about a brotherhood of mice living in
medieval times would work, let alone be turned into a feature film? Well thanks
to director Matt Reeves (Dawn of the
Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield)
and screenwriter Gary Whitta (Rogue One:
A Star Wars Story, The Book of Eli)
it will become a reality.
According
to Collider,
David Peterson’s 10-year running, Eisner-winning comic book series, Mouse Guard will get a movie adaptation.
It is known at this time that Whitta will pen the big screen adaptation but
Reeves has no intention of direct at this time. The ultra-successful series has
been translated to 10 languages and has sold almost one million copies in print
spawning three different volumes of the main series.
Though
the premise of a group of mice with human characteristics living in medieval
times sounds like it would be geared towards children, the series is known for
having complex characters and mature storylines. Fox intends on using the same
technology used for the Apes
franchise and this year’s, The Jungle
Book for a live-action/CG hybrid.
