When I had first heard that there was a new Drama titled Mr. Robot starring Ahkmenrah from the Night at the Museum trilogy and an aging direct to DVD star Christian Slater, I thought it sounded like an awful show. Then, when I heard that the show would be broadcast on USA Network I had no hope. It was the moment that the series started to garner serious attention and awards consideration, I started to take notice and boy was I wrong about this show.

Mr. Robot is a show that follows Elliot Alderson, a young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and hacker by night. Elliot finds himself at a crossroads when a secret society of hackers called fsociety led by mysterious leader recruits him to take down the corporation he is paid to protect. The show is such a reflection on modern day issues especially cyber security. Rami Malek as the damaged, socially inept Elliot is a revelation. One of the best acting performances I've seen in years, alongside Slater who does an amazing job as the title character. He's an anarchist who heads the efforts to take down Evil Corp. He brings Elliot to the brink of insanity multiple times throughout the show but he is just doing what he believes is best for him.

Along with Malek and Slater, there are other potential breakout roles for Charly Chaikin as Darlene and especially Martin Wallstrom as Tyrell Wellick. Darlene is a jaded malware coder who is essential to fsociety's master plan to take down Evil Corp (the company Elliot works for). She has what seems to be a love/hate relationships with Elliot but when push comes to shove, she's mostly a confidant to her fellow hacker. Tyrell Wellick is the Senior VP at Evil Corp who started in the same position that Elliot is at during his day job. He is striving to become the new CTO and his psychopathic tendencies shine through within the New York set drama.

The show is one of my absolute favorites I've ever seen; a big reason being is that it's so unique and different than any other show I've ever seen. It's brilliantly smart and sharp. It's able to keep viewers on their toes. Mr. Robot is filled with twists and unexpected turns which leads to an even better program than expected. Because of this, the show acts much more than a thriller than a drama thanks to the brilliant writing and direction from creator Sam Esmail.

Overall, Elliot is a vigilante and a hero throughout this series. He has so many personal issues which leads to the audience feeling so much for this guy. There is so much more to talk about within the show but I don't want to completely give away anything because it's still a new series but I promise you that you will LOVE this series. Everyone should watch this show. I'm extremely excited to see where the rest of the adventures go within season 2. Craig Robinson, Grace Gummer and rapper Joey Badass are set to join the cast in Season 2 of the USA Network original series. Mr. Robot will return on July 13th in a two-part episode at 10 PM EST.
