Guy
Ritchie (Snatch, The Man from U.N.C.L.E) is one of those directors who has such a
distinct style of filmmaking that he has become a real auteur in the eyes of
audiences. Now, it seems he’s going to bring that style to the medieval times
with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Today, Entertainment Weekly has released the first images of the titular hero
Arthur, played by Charlie Hunnam, as seen above. Also, we have the first
official image of Jude Law as the villainous Vortigern, the tyrannical uncle of
Hunnam’s character seen below.
Though
much is still to be known about this film and details are scarce, it’s known
that it’s expected to be a bold new take on the classic story of King Arthur. I’m
eager to see what Ritchie can do with this as I’m a big fan of his work on Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr.
as well as Snatch being one of my
favorite films of the 2000s.
The
movie will star Hunnam and Law, alongside Eric Bana, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan
Gillen and Astrid Berges-Frisbey. King
Arthur: Legend of the Sword is set to open in theaters on March 24th,
2017.
