Williams hasn’t been seen in much lately, but that’s all about to change.
According to The
Playlist, Williams is in talks to star in The Greatest Showman alongside Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. The film
formally known as ‘The Greatest Showman on Earth’ will be released on Christmas
Day in 2017.
The
live action musical will tell the story of P.T. Barnum and his journey in
creating the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Williams has two
big festival hits upcoming this year with Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women along with Kristen Stewart
and Laura Dern. As well as, Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea starring Williams, Kyle Chandler and Casey
Affleck that is the favorite in the current Oscar race. Williams will lend her
vocals potentially for the first time since the 2011 film, Shame.
The Greatest Showman will be directed by
Michael Gracey, who is known for his visual effect work, which is interesting
notably because of the scale of this project. Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3) is set to write the script
of this ultimately intriguing film.
