Kong: Skull Island is one of my most
anticipated movies of next year. The story of King Kong is a classic but Jordan
Vogt-Roberts’ (The Kings of Summer)
upcoming vision looks to be tremendous in scale and a great overall film, at
least by the Comic-Con trailer released today.
Though
The Kings of Summer was a nice little
film, this movie is a massive undertaking for Vogt-Roberts, especially since
Kong: Skull Island will be within the same universe as Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla film that was released in 2014.
The blockbuster is set to take place within the 1970s and for once, there is no
beauty and the beast/damsel in distress story which is refreshing.
The
ensemble cast is tremendous and includes Tom Hiddleston, last year’s Best
Actress at the Oscars, Brie Larson along with legendary veterans like Samuel L.
Jackson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly. And of course, some standouts from Straight Outta Compton and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl with
actors like Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins and Thomas Mann.
Kong: Skull Island will be released on
March 10th, 2017. Check out the Comic-Con trailer below!
