Fuller’s Hannibal on NBC is one of
those shows that universally was loved but didn’t get the ratings it needed to
stay afloat. Fuller’s newest show though, American
Gods, which is based on the book series by Neil Gaiman seems to be a
potential hit for Starz.
The
show tells the story of a battle between gods and it looks tremendous. The cast
includes acting veteran Ian McShane along with Ricky Whittle and Pablo
Schreiber (Pornstache from Orange is the New Black). The full synopsis is as
follows:
The
plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of
biblical and mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers
to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money,
technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon (Ricky
Whittle), is an ex-con who becomes a bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr.
Wednesday (Ian McShane), a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a
cross country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new
deities.
