Ewan
McGregor has already had a pretty busy 2017. He starred in the live-action Beauty and the Beast as Lumiere and also
reprised his role as Renton in T2 Trainspotting.
Not only that, but he can be seen currently playing dual roles in FX’s Fargo. Now, he’s gained another
high-profile role in yet another Disney live-action movie as THR
reports that McGregor has been cast as the titular role in Christopher Robin.
Christopher Robin, otherwise known as
the live-action Winnie the Pooh film will follow the title character, grown up
as an adult businessman who has lost his sense of imagination until his
childhood friend Pooh shows up to take him on a new adventure. The movie has
had an interesting path since its inception as Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip, Queen of Earth) was
originally slated to write and direct. The project has since fallen into the
lap of Marc Forster (World War Z, Finding
Neverland) who will direct and while Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, Up) was to pen the script, recent reports say that Allison
Schroeder (Hidden Figures) has been
brought on for the most recent draft. As a huge fan of McGregor, I’m definitely
more excited for this now that on-screen talent is set in stone.
McGregor
will be seen next on screen in Zoe, a film directed by Drake Doremus (Like Crazy, Equals) and will co-star Lea
Seydoux. He’s also attached to a drama titled Don’t Make Me Go but that may be shifted with his recent schedule. Christopher Robin is just one of the
many in-development live-action Disney movies that also include Mulan, Aladdin, Dumbo and The Lion King.
