Though
Hollywood might not fully approve yet, Netflix is making a killing. Every day
on this site, I’m writing another story that has to do with the streaming
service and today is no different. They’re continuing to acquire talent and
projects with an indie darling is headed to Netflix with his next movie in tow.
According to The
Playlist, Noah Baumbach’s (The Squid
and the Whale, Frances Ha) next film, The
Meyerowitz Stories, formerly Yeh Din
Da Kissa has been acquired by Netflix.
The
next effort from Baumbach has one of his starriest casts to date with Dustin
Hoffman playing the aging father of two adult siblings fighting for the
attention of his affection. Adam Sandler (a Netflix favorite), Emma Thompson
and frequent collaborator, Ben Stiller also round out the cast for a movie that
made my most-anticipated list earlier this year. No word yet on when the movie
will be available to stream but I’m excited to see it for sure.
Baumbach
has nothing else on his slate in terms of directing but did write The Emperor’s Children which is in
development and will star Jeff Bridges. As for the stars, Sandler’s next movie,
Sandy Wexler premieres on Netflix
this Friday; Stiller is in post-production for Brad’s Status directed by Mike White and co-stars Luke Wilson,
Michael Sheen and The Office’s, Jenna
Fischer.
