After
months of anticipating, rumors and talks between actors, it seems that Josh
Brolin will play the role of Cable in Deadpool
2, per THR.
The rough, no-nonsense character inhibited an actor with a style to counteract
that of Ryan Reynolds’ wacky and fun Deadpool and it seems that the right
choice was made.
Brolin
emerged and won the role after being a surprise contender for the role after
names such as David Harbour, Michael Shannon and even, Brad Pitt were in talks
to play the role that Oscar-nominated actor eventually won. Sources are saying
that Cable won’t just be making an appearance in the Deadpool sequel but also many more films beyond as Brolin has
signed a four-picture deal to play the character. One of those movies we
speculate will most likely be X-Force
but the others aren’t clear as of now. This isn’t the first high-profile comic
book character for Brolin as he’s gearing up to play the mad titan, Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. I personally think this is a
great choice for the role and an actor of Brolin’s caliber will play off of
Reynolds fairly well.
There
is no current release date for the project but production on Deadpool 2 begins in June where Brolin
and Reynolds will be joined by the previously cast, Zazie Beetz who will also
star as Domino. The movie will be directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) and the script
comes from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool,
Zombieland).
Brolin
will be seen later this year in Joseph Kosinski’s Granite Mountain and also in the sequel to Sicario titled Soldado
before being seen as Thanos on May 4th, 2018. What do you guys think
about the casting of Brolin of Cable? Do you wish someone else would’ve
received the role? Write us in the comments section and let us know.
