After
he originally said he wasn’t sure that he would return for a third installment,
Deadline
now reports that James Gunn (Guardians of
the Galaxy, Slither) will in fact write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios. The director
confirmed he would return to the MCU and continue his epic comic-book/sci-fi
series on his Facebook page giving fans breathe a heavy sigh of relief after
his confirmation that he’d return.
It’s
clear within the message he shared with fans that he’s extremely passionate
about the source material and all the characters he’s helped craft on screen.
He later revealed that Guardians of the
Galaxy Vol. 3 will take place after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and will take place during Phase 4 of the
MCU. Obviously, we’re a long ways off from details regarding the third film but
this is amazing news as Guardians of the
Galaxy is not only one of my favorite MCU movies but also, one of my
favorite comic-book movies of all-time.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is in
theaters on May 5th and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave
Bautista, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, Vin
Diesel and Kurt Russell. What do you guys think about Gunn returning for GotG3? What or who do you want to see in
the third installment of the beloved Marvel franchise? Comment below and let us
know!
