Will
Smith has been featured quite frequently on our site since its inception about
a year ago so it never ceases to amaze me when he’s attached to another
project. This one however, could be a match made in heaven as THR
reports that Smith may star in Gemini Man
that just attached a director as well in Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Life of Pi).
Smith
would play the lead in the film that has been in development for over 20 years
having Mel Gibson and Clint Eastwood linked to the project years earlier. The
action thriller would follow Smith as a middle-aged assassin getting ready to
retire only to be hunted by a clone of himself but 25 years younger and at the
peak of his abilities. The younger clone will most likely use the CGI
technology that we’ve seen on Michael Douglas and Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU.
I think Smith would be a tremendous collaborator with Lee and am hoping they
can get a deal done to start shooting before the actor attends to his other
film responsibilities.
Most of
those responsibilities include franchises Bad
Boys and Suicide Squad that will
be shooting soon (though surprisingly both are missing directors at the
moment). Smith has also been linked just this past week to Guy Ritchie’s
live-action Aladdin in which he’s in
talks to voice the Genie. Smith can be seen later this year in the Netflix original
movie, Bright co-starring Joel
Edgerton.

Man? Do you think he’s the right choice for a role like this? Comment below
