After
reports that a young Dumbedore would appear in future Fantastic Beasts movies, many speculated on who would play the
role. Today, Collider
reports that Jude Law has won the iconic role that has been played previously
Richard Harris and Michael Gambon in the Harry
Potter franchise.
The
report says that Law will play the wizard long before he became the Headmaster
at Hogwarts with audiences meeting him decades earlier as a professor. He’ll
share the screen with his peer, Gellert Grindelwald (played by Johnny Depp),
the villainous dark wizard who believes that their kind is superior to No-Majs.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2
is said to be a darker film tonally than the first that followed Eddie Redmayne’s
zoologist, Newt Scamander.
There
is plenty of history between Grindelwald and Dumbledore within the books so I’m
looking forward to seeing to acting powerhouses in Depp and Law on screen
together to broadcast said history on the screen. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is set to be released on
November 16th, 2018 and will be the second installment of a planned
five movies for the franchise.
Jude
Law was seen earlier this year in the HBO series, The Young Pope and will be seen later this year in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
alongside Charlie Hunnam on May 12th. What do you think of this
casting? Are you excited about Jude Law wielding the iconic wand? Sound off
below and let us know in the comments!
