There’s a continuing trend of usual film actors heading to TV and taking their talents to the small screen. We’ve seen it on shows like Fargo, True Detective, House of Cards and Billions but now a new series is starting in the right direction. According to the Tracking Board, Hilary Swank has signed on to Danny Boyle’s FX series, Trust to star.

The series is set in 1973 and follows the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, Swank will play Gail Getty, who negotiated with the captors of Getty III. The mafia looked to get a multi-million-dollar ransom for kidnapping him but had issues getting through to anyone. The Italian police believed what had gone on was a prank while his father, who was a heroin addict refused to answer the phone. His grandfather, who will be played by Donald Sutherland in the series, was too busy in his million-dollar mansion and also didn’t deal with those who kidnapped his grandson. Gail was the only committed one as the boy’s mother did her absolute best in trying to deal with her family and saving her son from the dangerous situation he’s in.

Swank has appeared on television before but that was much earlier in her career before her two Academy Award nominations. She’ll be seen next in Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky alongside Channing Tatum and Adam Driver. She’ll also be seen in 55 Steps opposite Helena Bonham Carter and Jeffrey Tambor.
