It seems that Queen B is headed to Disney! According
to Variety,
platinum recording artist and actress, Beyonce is the studio’s top choice to
voice Nala in The Lion King
live-action reimagining from Jon Favreau (Iron
Man, The Jungle Book).
This
isn’t Beyonce’s first movie effort as she’s starred in films from comedy to
drama to musicals such as Austin Powers
in Goldmember, Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records and Obsessed. The report says that no deal has been made yet and the
singer/actress is currently pregnant with twins but Disney and Favreau are
prepared to make any accommodations necessary to have her to voice the female
lion. If she is indeed cast, she joins Donald Glover and James Earl Jones who
joined the cast last month.
The Lion King is just one of the most
recent string of live-action Disney remakes that also include Beauty and the Beast which is currently
in theaters, Mulan, Aladdin and Dumbo. The Lion King is expected to be released at some point in 2018 or
2019 and we here at Cinema Wave will continue to update you of any news about
the film when made available!
